Ocean currents are located at the ocean surface and in deep water below 300 meters. There are surface ocean current ( horizontal and vertical currents ) and deep ocean currents. Deep ocean currents are part of the global-scale circulation system, also called the global conveyor belt and play a key role in distributing heat energy and regulating weather and climate.
