Politics is a dirty business. There are always opposing forces who wishes for the downfall of their opponent. They dig up old scandals and other negatory stories and even go the extent of creating false stories and paying off people to bear false witness against their political enemy. All to discredit said political enemy and ensure their own interest in the political arena.
