Why does Marian leave the room so quickly

Answer is "She is frightened by Addie's tears."

Because in the story, she left the room quickly because Addie was crying:

“She’s crying!” She turned a bright, burning face up to the first old woman.

“That’s Addie for you,” the old woman said spitefully.

Marian jumped up and moved toward the door.
