Why does JK Rowling spell color with a u (colour) in the Harry Potter books?

Because everyone is different depending where they live. see in America we spell color but in England they spell it colour. They mean the same thing just spelled differently. :)

something are spelled with a "U". it's weird in my opinion; however, armor is also armour. It's Britain english.
