Which clue helps the reader know that the narrator has gone mad enough to kill the old man?

I believe this is from the story of "The Tell-Tale Heart;" in this tale it is described in the first or second paragraph that the man loves the old man. yet the readers behind it have a hunch that this man is insane, and one of the lines that was described was by how the man was tormented by the eyes of the old man. Which gave the readers a hint that the man has gone mad.
