The Chinese Exclusion Act was an 1882 federal law prohibiting the immigration of Chinese workers.

It was the first law to ever prohibit members of a certain ethnic or national group from immigrating to the United States of America.

Chinese were prohibited to immigrate to the United States until 1943, but were only really free to immigrate in 1965.
