1. Use a straightedge to draw CD so it is longer than AB.
2. Place the steel tip of the compass at A and the writing tip at B.
3. Keep the same setting on the compass and place the steel tip at C. Draw an arc that intersects CD. Name this point D.
Now they are congruent.
