Why did framers of the constitution separate power between three branches of government?

They did this because they didn't want any part of the government to become to powerful.  This usually leads to a dictatorship of sorts, whereas the U.S. has a democracy.  The Framers wanted it to stay that way.

They did it so no one could become too powerful. Also, they didn't want the government to be one person responsibility. They feared that one person could corrupt the government.
