Mitosis is sexual reproduction and meiosis is asexual. Asexual is faster but there is no variety unlike sexual reproduction. Mitosis produces 4 daughter cells because the child of the two parents gets half of the chromosomes from each of the parents. Meiosis only gets 2 because it doesnt have to find a mate to reproduce.

Hope this helped!
