Was making salt water a physical or chemical change? How do you know?

Hello @Sala5,

How are you doing? As of your question, Salt water is a Chemical Change! Because the whole form of the water changes...It does not change looks (which usually physical change does) however inside of the water, when it comes to molecules and such, it is changing. I hope you understand? :)

In other words, when salt is dissolved in water, the original "molecule" does not exist any more. It turned into sodium ion and chloride ion. So by definition, this is a chemical change, because the molecular structure changed.
