In "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell, he uses the elephant to represent the British Imperialism and the fall represents how their own official causes its fall, also the hesitation of shooting or not the elephant represent how the officials gets in the middle of the state and the people, in the scene where the elephant is death we can see the inefficiency of imperialism.
