a. True

A Normal waking state is when we are awake and aware of our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions of the external environment and our inner, we have a sense of time and place, and we're able to deliberately focus our attention in whatever we want to. The state that significantly differs from itis the altered state of consciousness.

When we are in the altered state of consciousness, our ability to do the actions described above is reduced, we don't tend to have a notion of time and place, we may feel that we don't have voluntary control over our attention and behavior, we may have a distorted perception of reality, etc. People are normally in this state during certain levels of hypnosis, meditation, hallucination, trance, the dream stage, under drugs' influence, etc.
