The “leapfrog” method is an intermittent technique sometimes employed in foot surveillance.

Foot surveillance is used in relatively short distances/maintain contact with a suspect after he or she has left a vehicle. Usually, one surveillant is at close range to the objective while the other one keeps a great distance from himself and the target.
