Explain why pushing the wooden block across the rough surface will make the bottom of the block feel warm

I think it's because of friction. Think of how people start fire without matches or fire. They take two sticks and spin it fast on rocks or something like that and eventually starts a fire. Of course this is talking about heat but that's why
