Jimmy Carter is an American politician of the Democratic Party who was the thirty-ninth president of the United States (1977-1981).

His term as President of the United States was marked by important successes in foreign policy, such as the treaties on the Panama Canal, the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel, the SALT II treaty with the Soviet Union and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, but lived its most tense moments with the Iran Hostage Crisis. In domestic policy, his government created the Ministries of Energy and Education and strengthened legislation on environmental protection.
