One of the accomplishments of Jimmy Carter had as Governor was decreasing the size of state government. He streamlined about 300 government agencies to just 22 during his term. Carter was very much in favor of integration, something that was already well underway by the time he became governor. The 1996 Summer Olympic Games were awarded to Atlanta in 1990. The HOPE scholarship program was not created until 1993.
