Why are pandemics a concern in an increasingly globalize world?

A pandemic is a global disease outbreak that represents a top global catastrophic risk, measles as well as chicken pox for example, transmits readily and spreads quickly. Every year many people die from these outbreaks, take the flu, among other things as I mentioned above; up to 500,000 people die from influenza/flu.
