What is the value of b in the equation 3b + 2(b − 1) = 8?

3b + 2(b − 1) = 8
3b + 2b - 2 = 8
5b = 10
b = 2

answer b = 2

So to start out the equation, you would have to distribute the 2 to the numbers and letters in the parenthesis. This should get me to:3b+2b-2=8. Add 2 on both sides of the equation and add up like terms. Now the equation looks like this: 5b=10. Now divide 5 to both sides which should give you b. b=2 I hope this helps you!
