Which aspect of charybdis frightens the men more

The aspect that the men are frightened the most from Charybdis is the sound the men heard from it. The poet's language is very illustrative but still uses frightening/aggressive words. According to‚ lines 177-179‚" all the sea was a cauldron seething over the intense fire when the mixture suddenly heaves and rises".

He is at first fearful, but then later he becomes depressed. After seeing his old ship mate, he feels great sorrow. He also finds out that his mother is dead and that was very sad and shocking. He did not know his mom had died and he was sad for her. Deathly pity ran through him.
