Let L be the length & W the width. Given L=W+8. The perimeter of a rectangle is: 2 x (L+W), since L=W+8 ===> perimeter = 2 x (W+8+W) =80
4W+16=80===> W=16 & L=16+8=24.
Let's check the answer. Since L=24 & W = 16 so the perimeter is :
2 x (16+24) = 2 x 40 = 80
