Potato is called as modified stem because it exhibits properties which resembles to a stem. It underground stem, which is also called as tuber. It is called as modified stem as it exhibit scaly leaves, nodes, internodes, buds and adventitious roots all these properties are also found in a stem. The ground tissue is the main tissue that is expected to make up a potato. These tissue are responsible for storing carbohydrates in vascular plants. These tissues lies between the vascular and dermal tissues of the plant.
