What is the purpose of an arguments conclusion?

To restate the central point of the argument and make a final bid for the audience's support.

A conclusion is a statement drawn from all the ideas and analysis in the body of an essay, presentation, etc. The purpose of a conclusion in an argument is to signal closure to the reader. Without a conclusion, a reader may be left confused or needing more. In other words it "completes" an essay or presentation and reemphasizes the thesis statement or main ideas.
