Julius Caesar was assassinated as a result of conspiracy by many Roman senators. The assassination was led by Gaius, Decimus and Brutus which were considered to be his friends.
He was stabbed 23 times as he sat on a podium during a senate meeting. Caesar fell bleeding to his death on March 15, 44 BC.
Caesar was the dictator of the Roman Republic and he was killed because many feared his unlimited power. He was recently declared the dictator perpetuo by the Senate of the Roman Republic.
