Egypt's past has influenced it's culture because the cities and their unique attractions like the pyramids have been a part of Egyptian life for over 5000 years. It has been invaded many times and has adopted the Arabic language and Islamic religion. The control of the Suez Canal was also of major importance to obtaining Egypt's independence.
