What's the difference between idiom and irony?

How can I improve my English Language? :P

Irony is very similar to sarcasm as a play on words. Idiom is a group of words to creat an image this is what i know :/ sorry if its wrong

Irony is very similar to sarcasm as a play on words. Idiom is a group of words to creat an image such as "you are barking up the wrong tree".
