hello there..

A-(-84)= 140

here two negative signs mean that the resultant sign is a positive sign.

A + 84 = 140

when we transfer the number to another side, sign changes so +84 turns into -84

A= 140 - 84

on subtracting, A= 56

In short, the answer is 56.

hope it helps!
