Because of the moons gravitational pull, is strong enough to pull the ocean around... I hope that helps!

Due to the revolution of the moon around the Earth, sometimes earth experiences a more gravitational attraction when it comes near the Earth... when the moon is at the nearest point.... the place on Earth experiences high tides and the farthest place experiences low tides
