A 13-mater fire-truck ladder is leaning against a wall. Find the distance the ladder goes up the wall if it makes an angle of elevation of 43 degrees.

So to complete this you need to choose either sin cos or tan.

You know the hypotenuse and Ф but need to find the opposite.

So you would choose to use sin.

Opposite = sinФ * hypotenuse:
Opposite = sin43 * 13 = 8.9.

It would go 8.9 meters up the wall.
