Joseph Raymond "Joe" McCarthy was conceived on November 14, 1908, close Appleton, Wisconsin. In 1946 he was chosen to the U.S. Senate, and in 1950 he openly charged that 205 communists had penetrated the U.S. State Department. He ascends to control as a government official by making unreliable assertions.
