Regin was Sigurd's foster father, in Norse mythology, who urged him to go on a quest to kill the dragon Fafnir and restore order to the world. However, on that quest, Regin was completely corrupted due to his desire to become great and powerful, which is something Sigurd had to learn the hard way.
