The world's population is growing at an ever-increasing rate, which means we must utilize the resources present on our planet in order to sustain ourselves. Including the many other resources required, oil is required for the generation of energy and other uses. However, in order to sustain ourselves, we are also destroying the environment. Our behavior and exponentially increasing population are not stable; therefore, we must find alternative and renewable forms of energy to minimize damage caused by activities such as offshore drilling. Hope this helps :-)
