Empathy is a human quality by which a person can come to understand, either cognitively or emotionally, the feelings or emotions that another person may be experiencing at any given time. “To put yourself in my position”, “to walk in somebody else´s shoes” are both colloquial expressions that elaborate on the sense of the word empathy. Then, empathic listening is the action of listening while manifesting characteristics of empathy.
