Since Josh is undergoing a criminal trial he needs to have character witnesses. Mr. Kent knows Josh personally by being his neighbor and his college professor. Mr. Kent can testify how Josh is in life and how he is a good person. A character witness will vouch for the persons good behavior and will be under oath when they testify. This testimony is very important for the jurors to see how the person is during everyday life and not for the things that they may be charged with in a criminal trial.
