Montel can't keep up with the demand for the latest best-selling book. He had to order more copies twice this week. On Monday he placed an order for 96 books. On Wednesday he ordered 264 more. All the books arrived on Friday. There were 24 books in each box. How many boxes of books did Montel receive?

He got 15 boxes.
When you add the total number of books he ordered that week you should get 360 (96+264=360)
Then you would divide 360 by 24 because there are 24 books in each box
(360/24=15)
So if there are 24 books in 1 box there should be 15 boxes to have 360 books.

Answer: 15

Explanation:

Given: Montel can't keep up with the demand for the latest best-selling book. He had to order more copies twice this week. On Monday he placed an order for
96 books. On Wednesday he ordered
264 more. All the books arrived on Friday. There were
24 books in each box.

To Find: How many boxes of books did Montel receive.

Solution:

Number of books ordered on monday
=96

Number of books ordered on wednesday
=264

Total number of books ordered in week
=\text{Number of books ordered on monday}+\text{Number of books ordered on wednesday}

96+264

360

Number of books in one box =
24

total number of boxes
=\frac{\text{total books ordered}}{24}

(360)/(24)

15

Hence number of boxes of books received by montel is
15
