traits can be auto dominat or recessive. you receive alleles from each parent. A dominant trait needs only 1 allele to have expressed feature, a recessive trait you need both as in hemophilia or cystic fibrosis. A carrier has 1 affected alle, but the condition isnt expressed

Traits are passed from biological parents to offspring from heredity. Really, a Punnett Square. A Punnett Square lists all the Homozygous and Heterozygous alleles from each parent to figure out, what types of traits the offspring will have
