24+30=54

x+y=54
y=x+10
Substitute y
x+(x+10)=54
distribute "+" to remove parentheses
x+x+10=24
2x+10=24
-10 -10
________
2x=14
divide 2 on both sides
2x/2=14/2
x=7 plug in x
y=x+10
y=7+10
y=17;x=7
