In the story “One Thousand Dollars,” Robert Gillian forfeits a $50,000 inheritance. What is the theme expressed by the author in this story?

1)Human kindness can prevail over human weakness and selfishness.

2)The foolishness of men and women will always be obvious in the end.

3)True love makes people do silly things.

4)People of poor character can’t help but continue making bad choices.

I'd go with the first one, as the third one could be correct, but he gives the money to Miss Hayden, so I don't see how it's a silly thing, so I'd go with the first one. I hope this helps!
