(3x - 2)²
= (3x - 2) (3x - 2) use distributive property or FOIL
= 3x(3x) + 3x(-2) - 2(3x) - 2(-2)
= 9x² - 6x - 6x + 4 combine like terms
= 9x² - 12x + 4
