A baker started out with 12 cups of flour. She had 9 1/4 cups of flour left after the first batch of batter she made. She had 6 1/2 cups of flour left after the second batch of better she made. If she makes two more batches of batter, how many cups of flour will be left?

To find how much the baker uses for each batch, you will need to subtract 9 1/4 (9.25) from 12. That is 2.75. Therefore, the baker uses 2.75 cups of flower per batch. Since the baker is making 2 more batches, you will need to subtract 2.75 twice.

6.5-2.75=3.75
3.75-2.75=1

So, the baker has 1 cup of flower left.

If you subtract 9 1/4 from 12, you get 2.75, meaning the Baker uses 2.75 cups for each batch. In order to solve you must subtract 2.75 twice, because she makes two more batches.

6.5 - 2.75 = 3.75
3.75 - 2.75 = 1

1 cup of flour is left over.
