What is the trail of tears?

The trial of tears were when Andrew Jackson kicked the Native Americans out of their territory and for them to go farther west. When the Native Americans were moving most died from illness, climate, and lack of food. The Native Americans thought this was'nt fair.

in 1838 and 1839, as part of Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy, the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and to migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma. it had devastating effects and this was why it was called the trail of tears
