If my child was throwing a temper tantrum in the store, id get down to their level and talk to them slowly and nicely and if that doesn't work then ill tell them to calm down and id probably bribe them into being good so that i wont have to hear them screaming XD

Using your words. Talking to them calmly without anger is the best choice. Screaming or yelling at them is going to make them cry more, and hitting them will also do no good. Letting them know it's okay will likely make them less stressed.
