One hundred and ninety students go on a tour. They go in minibuses that carry 14 passengers each and in buses that carry 40 passengers each. There were right vehicles used, all full. How many of each type of vehicle were used? (How do you get the answer?)

m + b = 8.....m = 8 - b
14m + 40b = 190

14(8 - b) + 40b = 190
112 - 14b + 40b = 190
-14b + 40b = 190 - 112
26b = 78
b = 78/26
b = 3....there were 3 buses used

m + b = 8
m + 3 = 8
m = 8 - 3
m = 5...there were 5 mini-buses used

190 / 40 = 4.75.
It can't be 4 buses .
There would be 3 buses.
40 x 3 = 120
190 - 120 = 70
70 / 14 = 5
5 + 3 = 8 vehicles.
There would be 3 buses and 5 minibuses.

Hope This Helps You!
Good Luck Studying :)
