What would happn if more heat became trapped in earth's atmosphere?

If even more heat becomes trapped, then it will cause further global warming, climate change. Through this, huge amounts of ice and snow will melt from the north and south pole causing higher sea levels, flooding. It would also cause animals to become extinct, that possibly including humans too.
