How is external migration different from internal migration

I believe external migration is when you move to new/unknown land like outside of the country or state. Internal migration i think is when you move inside of your known land like inside of your state or country.

Internal migration is different from external migration because internal migration is only moving within the nation's borders, and external is like moving from one country to another. ( internationals )
