(a) equation in function notation:
h(t) = 29.4t - 4.9t²
(b) The degree of the function is 2 and this is quadratic
(c) what time will the ball in its highest position?
h = 29.4t - 4.9t²
differentiate both sides and equate to zero
d(h) = 29.4 - 9.8t = 0 ; t = 3
(d) what time will it hit the ground,
h = 29.4t - 4.9t² = 0; t = 6 and t = 0
Thus, the answer is t = 6.
