Solve 2(x + 1) = 2x + 5.

First, distribute 2 into (x+1)
2x+2=2x+5
There cannot be the same variable on both sides of an equation, so subtract 2x from both sides.
2=5
Because 2 doesn't equal 5, there is no solution to this equation

-2=2x+2
2x=2x+7
