A television normally costs $1,420. Due to a store sale, the television is now $1,022.40. What was the percentage taken off the television? ( Please show me the work, thanks)

The TV is 28% off. You can verify this by dividing 1022.4 by 1420 and getting 0.72. That's how much of the price you have to pay.

So you just subtract .72 from 1 to .28

Answer:

The discount is 28%

Explanation:

The original value of the TV is $1,420, that is the 100% of the value. If we want to find the discount value we could calculate as follows:

D=1-((price with discount)/(full price) )\\D=1-(1022.40)/(1420) \\D=1-0.72\\D=0.28

The discount is 28%
