Thomas Jefferson argued that Parliament was the legislature of Great Britain only, and that the colonies, which had their own legislatures, were connected to the rest of the empire only through their allegiance to the Crown (King George III).

Answer:

Because the colonies had their own legislatures and the parliament did not.

Step-by-step explanation:

The colonies created their own laws, they already had an established and ingrained legislature, but the colonies had a relation of fidelity with the king, although it was not legislative deoendentes of him. On the other hand, the parliament was an extension of the legislature of Great Bethany.
