Do ionic bonds dissolve in methanol

Though ethanol is fairly polar for a covalent compound, it's nowhere near as polar as water is. That said, ionic compounds are more soluble in ethanol than in more non polar solvents. You can get a little bit of sodium chloride to dissolve in ethanol, but basically no NaCl will dissolve in benzene.
