Slope intercept form: y = mx + b In this equation, m is the slope(rise over run) b is the y-intercept. This is very handy for graphing.

Standard form: ax + by = c, where a, b, and c are integers. Not so handy for graphing but many application problems (“story problems”) are easy to convert from words to equations in standard form.
